  1. Our beginnings

Sopwell Community Trust was established in July 2012 to provide education and leisure facilities for the local community.

  2. A growing community

Before establishing a permanent home, the Trust arranged Friday prayers, Eid celebrations, Maktab classes, food-bank support, social and health-awareness activities, and football tournaments in community and leisure venues across St Albans.

  3. A permanent home

On 18 October 2022, the Trust completed the freehold purchase of the former Christadelphian church and opened Masjid Ar-Rahman.

Our purpose

Faith, education
and service.

  1. Advance the Islamic faith through prayer, learning, lectures and public religious celebrations.

  2. Advance education and provide facilities for social welfare, recreation and community life.

  3. Relieve poverty, sickness and distress through grants, fundraising and practical support.
